I'm so sorry for my late late LATE review! But, I finally got to watch the episode last night. There were some parts that were not at all what I expected--and that's a good thing.
The preview for last week's episode definitely made it look like Damon, Rebekah, and Sage were going to have a threesome. Good gracious, i can't tell you how happy I am that they didn't! First of all, it's just not probable. Second of all... gross! It's bad enough that Damon and Rebekah got in between the sheets the first time. And now he's exploiting that to get something he wants? Yes, the fact that there was another white oak tree that can kill Originals is majorly important for them to know. But I am not a fan of how he got the information. Then again... Sage's mind compulsion? Oh, she's awesome!
Which pair do you like better? Damon and Rebekah or Damon and Sage? Or are they both just completely messed up?
I was upset with Damon divulging all of his plans to Sage. I knew she would double-cross him! She's head over heels for Finn! (By the way--weird??? YES. But, they're vampires. What can I expect?) Then it all made sense when Damon pulled out the old Wickery bridge sign. "I sold my rage." Oh yes, you did, Damon. VERY nice! (Though that sign should've been much more weathered. If that was supposed to be over 100 years old, it should've been very, very different.)
Is Caroline incredible? Yes. Yes, she is. She was just giving lectures all up and down this episode. She needed to, too. When she told Abbey that leaving would be the worst thing she could do, I thought she had gotten through to her. I thought she would stay for Bonnie. But of course, she didn't listen. Does anyone? Well, fine. She can walk out. I was never sold on her character anyway. Besides, it's not like witchy Bonnie can't find her if she really wants to anyway. On that note--
Do you think Bonnie forgave Elena too quickly?
I don't. It wasn't Elena's fault. But that doesn't mean I'm on Elena's side. She's being childish and offended for all the wrong reasons. Newsflash! Damon and Stefan are vampires. They need blood to survive. Damon is trying to teach Stefan self-control.
I'm still not entirely comfortable with Dr. Fell. It seems like she's proving herself a worthy person, but she's still creeping me out a little. She just came in and got comfortable with everyone too fast. I love that she thought to throw the coffee at Alaric. I wouldn't have considered that, I don't think.
Oh, Alaric! We have a spell to contain his evil alter-ego... That's good. But what do you see coming for him? Death, jail, or just a total mind-break?
I liked this storyline because it showed that there are consequences to the supernatural. When there are stories featuring the extraordinary, I cringe at the absence of cause and effect. However, watching Ric realize he's crazy--that was great. Watching him tear up the stairs after Meredith--that was great, too. I love Alaric, but I love great writing more!
All in all, great episode!
What was your favorite part? What do you think of how damon got what he wanted? Do you think we'll be seeing some dead Originals soon? Who is going to kill Klaus? Damon, Stefan, Elena, or Katherine? Are you disappointed about Abbey's departure? Was Alaric's crazy solved too quickly/easily?
Well, I guess you'll be hearing from me in a couple of days. Always, Krista
I loved the realization that the witch's curses always, always has a balance. Though it's scary, it's very logical that a crave to take another life would haunt the ring bearer while he or she is given life each at each death. That's the witch's motto or law.
You know TVD, no one's gonna get away with a quick fix. That applies to killing off all the originals by just killing one. Oh well.
I can't say what pair I like because they're both not right for eachother, only Delena is right
And forgiving isn't even the word. If anything, Bonnie should be telling Elena 'thank god you're alive'. Bonnie has known Elena how long? Long enough to be like sisters to eachother and Bonnie's only recently contacted her mom who she's never seen. More like a stranger than a mother.
I kind of like how things between the brothers and Elana are somewhat on hold as things in the rest of the story explode. They leave enough hinting and moments in there to make watchers realize that just because there's a lot more pressing matters around them, there is still unsaid and undone things that are left unfixed and weighing on the characters. It also gives time for Damon and Stephan to mend things between them as Damon teaches his younger brother how to control what he is without going to one extreme to the other. I was really impressed with Stephan this last episode in how far he's come!
As for Alaric, I love him! But I do love the consequence route. Although I do sincerely hope that they figure something out to help Alaric, rather than he end up dead, in jail or completely going off the deep end, you know?
As a typical Dark-Damon move, he did get his information form Rebecca in a very despicable way, but do we forget what happens when Damon is in his dark place? He's had a few relapses throughout the last couple of seasons, when something hurts him. I find its kind of like a self-defense mechanism for him. Last time he was nice and on the straight and narrow, Elena's careless comment knocked him back down, just when they were getting so close. I think that soon there is going to be a big confrontation, who knows what can happen at this point! I'm excited to watch tonight's episode this weekend!
I'm glad things are on hold, too, but it looks like this next episode is going to bump things to the next level! Of course, the CW has a habit of making it look like certain things are going to happen... and then it's something completely different.
I really hope they can save Alaric. Looks like the herbs aren't working... we'll see what else happens.
I know! Elena has a bad habit of pushing him off the deep end.
I know! As unintentional as it is, she has a terrible habit. I have yet to watch the newest episode (tomorrow! Yay!) So I don't know what's happened yet, I can't wait to find out! I have been very careful not to happen upon any spoilers. So far so good! lol
I will probably get a lot of hate for saying this, but I feel like this season has been pretty weak. There hasn't been any main story really. We're four episodes from the end of the series and there's not really any big bad guy. I also feel super disappointed because there's so much potential in all of these stories that they've created, but then they've just gone and solved the problem with something quick and that has a weak impact. So in my opinion the best thing for this season is to end it quickly, write it off as a bad season (I think its because the director is focusing on both this and the secret circle, whereas in season 1 and 2 his efforts were completely focused on TVD), and come back with a mind-blowing season 4!
So as for this episode... Don't really know what to say. I still think the doctor is evil. I get real bad vibes from her. Elaric's crazy, great, but I don't see that going anywhere important. So at the end of this episode Rebekah saw the wood burn and now she thinks she and her siblings are safe. This bit kind of irritated me. They have been reducing the number of the people in the episodes lately so much, this just seems like an excuse to get rid of her and Klaus for a few episodes. Tyler and Jeremy have been gone for ages. In episode 16 we did not see either Bonnie or Caroline or Bonnie's mum or Bonnie's mum's son. Also Katherine has been gone for so long and I miss her so much! She caused all sorts of fun drama. I also miss people mistaking Elena for Katherine... Like Sage, I would have thought she'd say something.
Anyway thats enough of my complaining, there have been good parts of this season, like Elena walking in on Damon naked ^ ^ lol
I completely agree. I was thinking a few days ago his attention was most likely too divided. I am fed up with the Original story line and have been for about twenty episodes. I'm ready for something real with actual consequences to happen. Something irreversible and plot heavy.
I miss Katherine, too! I think a lot of people do. Wow. I'm just starting to realize how much I miss her. I loved when she pretended to be Elena.
I kind of WANT Rebekah with Damon just because they're both so hot. I feel bad for Alaric. I like Sage and LAUGHED when she betrayed Damon. His fault all around for trusting her. Elena is eh. She's beautiful, but stupid.
I don't think Bonnie forgave Elena too quickly, I think, personally, that all relationships should have their partners as INDIVIDUALS; I mean one partner cannot always be responsable for the other, I hate that when someone gets mad at their best freind because their freind's significant other did something that the freind didn't even know about, I'm not exactly great with Elena about being mad at Stefan and Damon either, and I'm glad Abbey is gone personally, as for Meredith... I'm meh with her right now, not for or against currently
I love this show but I can't stand Elena at all! She has to be the dumbest character I've ever watched. She says and does all these stupid things then seems surprised by the consequences of her own actions. I don't like Stefan either. He's an emo hipster. TEAM DAMON for the win!!!!
im just sayin...i absolutely HATE sage......not for any particilar reason, i guess i just dont like the actress. and yes! im so happy they got the wickery bridge sign! i cant wait for the next episode! i dont think that bonnie should be mad at elena. its not like her mother (who was never even there for her) dies or something. Both, her mother, and elena were alive. All thanks to making her mother a vampire. And shes leaving anyway, so i think that elena has a better and bigger impact on bonnies life. So forgiving elena was the right thing to do. i think the storyline with alaric is really cool. I was mad at first, but it makes the show sooo much more interesting, espically because alaric was one of my favorite characters!.............. And thats my reaction cant wait for the next episode............
